Course Content 'Energy English'

 After successful completion of the program, you should be able to
 

  • use English at a B2 level and be familiar with the terminology used in the energy industry;
  • write English business emails and letters as well as academic essays on energy topics;
  • actively participate in negotiations and meetings, and to give vivid and effective presentations in English
  • all with the necessary background knowledge of social customs and manners deemed appropriate in Anglo-Saxon countries, 
and by taking into consideration the intercultural differences which may be involved in communication on a global level. 
        

The students are provided with knowledge of the relevant vocabulary of the following topics:

  • The Technology of Energy: Generation including conventional energy sources, distribution, energy usage;
  • Renewable Energy: Wind, solar, hydro power; wave, tidal, geothermal and biomass energy;
  • Energy Economics.


The second part focuses mainly on developing active language skills in the field of Business English using the energy related vocabulary:

  • Writing incl. Academic Writing;
  • Meetings, Negotiations and Presentations
  • Intercultural Communication and Management.
     

In addition, the course content includes a comprehensive grammar review with accompanying exercises.
