ZML provides the second part of the online training offer for WBS teachers

Starting in the 2017/18 school year, the subject "Business, Vocational and Academic Orientation", in which the perspective of the students choosing a profession is central, was introduced at the secondary and community schools, starting with grade 7. A total of 5 lessons from grade 7 to 10 are planned. In order to give teachers who want to take over these lessons from other subjects or who want to acquire the economic basics of the subject the opportunity to further educate themselves flexibly in terms of time and place, the Ministry of Education of Baden-Württemberg has offered a modular online training course. ZML employees contributed to the conception and production of the so-called bMOOCs of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. The online content of bMOOCs was closely coordinated with the regional training courses that were offered in the region and that started with the implementation of the lessons.

After the first module-MOCC "Market and Price Formation", the second MOOC of the WBS further training course, which is dedicated to the topic "Economic Order and Business Ethics", started on 30 April. This second module was conducted until 22 June. The MOOC chapters were activated on a weekly basis. The access to the previous course weeks was maintained during the course. The time required per chapter was one hour, interruptions were possible.

The module creation required great flexibility from the ZML production team: in a tight time frame between February and the end of April, the ZML employees created the training unit and provided a group of regional multipliers with a test version in advance for their personal preparation.

At the same time, the course platform was relaunched, which placed particular emphasis on user-friendliness and a fresh, modern design. For this purpose, the ZML team, together with experts from the PH Freiburg and the Freiburg Advanced Center of Education (FACE) at the University of Freiburg, developed interactive tasks that provided direct feedback in the learning process and could be completed with little effort. Furthermore, elements were available that invited discussion in working groups, such as online voting on attitudes and values.

A third MOOC is planned for the near future, which will deal with the topic of economics and sustainable development.
