Create AI policy & standardize AI usage

The use of AI systems is changing teaching and examinations: Students can use AI as a research, writing or feedback tool, while at the same time questions arise about transparency, traceability and fairness in assessment. Two easy-to-use tools will help you to meet these challenges systematically: the University of Bamberg's AI policy generator for formulating clear rules for your course and the form generator based on it for standardized information on AI use by students. Together they create transparency, relief for lecturers and learning opportunities for students.

Please note: These tools are not an official or mandatory requirement of the KIT. The form generator was developed as a practical suggestion to support lecturers in designing transparent and fair guidelines for AI use. The final regulations for coursework are the responsibility of the respective faculty and the individual teacher.

The AI-policy-generator of the University of Bamberg

The University of Bamberg's AI policy generator offers around 50 customizable text modules that you can use to quickly create a framework agreement on the use of AI tailored to your course. It serves as a template that regulates which forms of AI use are permitted, restricted or prohibited in your course.

  • Modular structure: Select and combine only the building blocks that are relevant to your examination formats and learning objectives.
  • Clear definitions: For example, define permitted tools, permitted intensity of support (e.g. "idea generation permitted, text adoption not"), citation and labeling requirements.
  • Customizability: Add faculty- or course-specific requirements and formulate consequences for violations.

The generator enables you to create binding regulations more quickly and thus creates a uniform basis that clearly communicates expectations for students and supports fair assessments.

The form generator: Standardized information on AI usage by students

The KIT form generator is an interactive tool for the standardized recording of AI usage by students. It can be linked to your course policy and generates a single, browser-compatible HTML file that students can open locally, fill out and submit together with their work.

  • Interactive matrix control: Define which activities are allowed and how intensively AI may be used.
  • Comparability & fair assessment: Standardized information makes it easier to compare and assess performance.
  • Administrative relief: Fewer queries, clearer documentation and less verification effort.
  • Simple integration: HTML file can be uploaded to the LMS or distributed directly; students edit the form in the browser.

The form generator facilitates the standardized, transparent documentation of AI use, increases the traceability of examination results and supports fair assessments.
