Mobile learning for skilled workers in the skilled trades - the DiKraft project

  • startdate:

    2018

    2023

With its "Energy Efficiency Strategy for Buildings", the German government has set itself the target of making the building stock in Germany almost climate-neutral by 2050 and reducing primary energy requirements by around 80 percent compared to 2008. Energy-efficient building refurbishment plays a key role in this, resulting in a potential future market for the skilled trades. New challenges lie in the digital networking of processes, in the intelligent control of multiple consumers and in storage technology. As several trades usually work in parallel during energy-efficient refurbishment by tradespeople, there is an increased need for continued education and communication.

The DiKraft project - Digital cross-industry service and training network for the skilled workers of tomorrow - addressed this need and targeted skilled workers and trainees from the skilled trades. Compact learning modules, so-called learning nuggets, were created for them, which can be accessed flexibly using mobile devices. Intuitive access is intended to make it easier for skilled workers and trainees to strengthen their skills in the division of cross-sector processes. During design and development, the learning offer was continuously tested and adapted to the needs of the target group. In addition, the project developed and implemented a tailor-made business coaching program with skilled trades companies. A series of courses on current and relevant topics from the skilled crafts sector were also offered with the target of integrating skilled crafts businesses into the existing regional network fokus.energie.

.

The ZML was involved in the design and development of these tools. The focus was on the overall media didactic concept and the production of the learning nuggets. The project partners included fokus.energie, the Institut für Betriebsführung im DHI e.V. (itb), the Institut für Ressourceneffizienz und Energiestrategien IREES GmbH and the internet and service provider for the trade FS Medien (S3 Medien).

.

The project started in April 2018 and was funded by the BMBF to the tune of over one million euros over four years. fokus.energie was responsible for coordinating the project to set up a transfer point for all trades relating to energy-efficient construction and energy-efficient building renovation as a platform for continued digital education.
