State-wide training series 'Artificial Intelligence in University Teaching' (FO>KI)
- startdate:
September 2024
- enddate:
December 2025
The training series was successfully completed in November 2025. The recordings of some lectures and workshops are available in a YouTube playlist. This means that the content can be viewed flexibly even after the end of the project and used for your own work. |
A training series developed at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) aims to strengthen AI skills at universities:
In the project "State-wide training series 'Artificial Intelligence in University Teaching' (FO>KI)", teachers, support staff, program developers, university management and students can acquire practical knowledge and basic principles for the use of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
For their concept, Svenja Geißler from the Center for Technology-Enhanced Learning at KIT and Dr. Matthias Bandtel from the Baden-Württemberg University Network for Digitalization of Teaching (HND-BW) will receive a Fellowship for digital university teaching in Baden-Württemberg, which is endowed with 50,000 euros and awarded by the Stifterverband (for promoting science, Research, and the Arts) and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts.
FO>KI aims to comprehensively prepare participants for the use of AI in university teaching. In 30 different formats the main topics of didactics, infrastructures, curriculum development, university strategies, law and ethics are covered. The program consists of:
- In-person course/lecture (teaching), in-person event (other events) at different universities
- Online workshops
- Collegial case discussions
- Digital self-study courses
Transfer of knowledge is a particular focus. The project targets multipliers who pass on the skills they have acquired at their universities and thus contribute to the dissemination and further development of AI skills.
The training series is continuously monitored to ensure the quality and relevance of the formats and to adapt them to new requirements. The target is to create a long-term sustainable training system that optimally prepares universities for the challenges and potential of artificial intelligence.
The current courses can be found in our calendar of events or on the HND-BW website.
