Study digitally

KIT is strongly committed to digitalization in teaching - the latest technologies are used in studies and teaching. Various units at KIT work together to achieve this, including the library, the Scientific Computing Center (SCC) and the Center for Technology-Enhanced Learning (ZML).

On this page we present some offers and examples of what digital studying at KIT can look like.

Examples of digital courses at KIT

YouTube channel "Teaching and Knowledge"

On our YouTube channel "Teaching and Knowledge" we publish a variety of videos with exciting knowledge from teaching and research at KIT.

In addition to our own video productions, you will also find many lecture recordings from various degree programs. Take a look!

Digital Learning Lab (DLL)

From video production and 3D printing to virtual reality and the Internet of Things - the Digital Learning Lab is the ideal environment to get to know a wide range of technologies and implement practice-oriented media products. Does that sound exciting? Then come by and get started right away!

The DLL is located on the second floor of InformatiKOM (building 50.19, room 108 / seminar room 5) and is open to all KIT students on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Information on orientation during your bachelor studies

The interactive map shows important milestones during your bachelor studies at KIT and draws your attention to offers of help. It can accompany you during your time at KIT and draw your attention to relevant information from before you start your studies to the last semester.

AI for students

In the AI competence module "Understanding and applying generative AI", everyone at KIT can acquire the necessary knowledge to use generative AI responsibly. The learning module teaches the basics and practical application examples. In addition, the Microsoft Copilot is available at KIT, which can support you with texts, programming and many other tasks.

AMSL: Learn to study with the Amsl app

The Amsl app helps you to master your studies better. It teaches you learning methods, techniques for self-regulated learning and emotion regulation, how to avoid procrastination and how to overcome exam anxiety. The Amsl app offers numerous interactive learning modules for this purpose.

Open courses offered by KIT

More and more courses are also being made freely available outside KIT. There are currently several courses on the open learning platform OpenCourses KIT, including the "NoPhish course" on internet security or the online course "Researching and writing with text-generating AI". In addition, AMALEA is an online course on machine learning that was developed in cooperation with the AI Campus. The world's largest open learning platform, Coursera, mainly publishes courses in English.

Right in the middle instead of just being there: 360° tours of KIT

Our 360° tours show you popular places on the KIT campus, such as the cafeteria or the library. By clicking, you can move from picture to picture and look around as if you were in the room yourself. The tours also give you insights that you would otherwise not be able to gain so easily. For example, into the server rooms of the SCC or the high-performance computer HoreKa. You can find all KIT tours at #DeinKITCampus.

International studies

Thanks to the Eucor network - The European Campus, you have the opportunity to study internationally. Five universities in Germany, France and Switzerland are open to you: the Universities of Basel, Freiburg, Haute-Alsace, Strasbourg and KIT. By enrolling at a Eucor university, you automatically become part of this network and can benefit from a wide range of mobility opportunities.

If you would like to look beyond Europe, KIT offers centralized opportunities for experiences abroad. The flyer "Your paths abroad" provides an overview.

Self-study units in mechanical engineering studies

These interactive learning units are intended to support the self-directed learning of students on the Bachelor's degree course in Mechanical Engineering in the courses on machine design theory in terms of time and content. The content of the interactive learning units was developed by students for students.
