Gleanings: Keynote lecture, introduction and presentations of the Freiburg symposium

First part of the symposium with impulse lecture and introduction as well as presentations of relevant projects and the administrative regulation on vocational orientation.

During the first part of the Freiburg symposium, around 170 participants from the grammar schools and the employment agencies in the Freiburg area were able to listen to a keynote lecture and an introduction in the Collegium Building 1 of the University of Freiburg, to find out about BESTOR projects for vocational and study orientation and about the current administrative regulations for the implementation of the BO guidelines in the upper secondary level.

In the morning, Volker Oechsle, a representative of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, first presented the BESTOR project.

This was followed by presentations on two BESTOR sub-projects:
Dennis Mocigemba from the Central Student Advisory Service in Freiburg presented the BEST2 method kit project to the participants. Michaela Koehl from the ZML presented the BESTOR sub-project OLGA with results of the teacher survey by questionnaire.

Jan Wohlgemuth from the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of the State of Baden-Württemberg then explained the administrative regulation on vocational orientation at secondary general education and vocational schools.

In her keynote speech Christiane Westhauser from the University of Ulm presented the factors influencing decision-making processes in vocational orientation for young people.

After the lunch break, Dr. Gerfried Kübler from the Regional Council of Freiburg then went into more detail in his introduction to the Education Plan 2016 and showed the building blocks and dimensions of vocational orientation.
