Online exam under video supervision
Online exam under video supervision describes a scenario how digital exams with the ILIAS test object, for which students are not allowed to use any or only limited aids, can be conducted under video supervision.
Within a defined period of time, students work on an exam online from home via the ILIAS test object within a few hours. A range of different task formats can be used, from free and cloze texts to answer-choice procedures. Depending on the task type, automated evaluations may be possible. In order to reduce the possibility of cheating, in the form of collusion during the examination or the use of unauthorized aids, Zoom is used for video supervision of the examinees. This supervision is carried out exclusively live and by KIT personnel.
For this purpose, students place a mobile device (smartphone) with Zoom client and camera at the side so that the person and the working environment are visible during the examination.
Participation in a video-monitored online examination outside the premises of the university is voluntary, which is why you, as the examiner, must offer a presence alternative with the same deadline, which must also be conducted in the form of an online examination (i.e. with ILIAS). However, this will not take place remotely under video supervision, but on a computer on campus - you should take care of an appropriately equipped room in good time; we recommend using the pool rooms of the SCC (for further information, see the checklist).
In addition, it is mandatory that you allow students to try out the technical and organisational implementation by means of a trial exam.
As an introduction, we also recommend participation in the webinar: Online exam under video supervision (see ZML Calendar of Events). You will probably find the recording the following day in our section Corona webinars.
Checklists, click instructions and templates can be found collected in a material folder in ILIAS (You must be logged in to ILIAS to access the content. The contents are only released for KIT employees).
